How to Install a Control Blanket on Slopes

Erosion control blankets are usually used to protect and stabilize the soil from surface erosion, which may happen due to heavy rain falls.

Moreover, on slopes, where soil is being eroded away, something to help you slow down the surface water is needed and the best thing to use is a control blanket. There are many types of control blankets and you should check them all out before deciding upon one. See which one fits your area and soil best and only then, proceed into using it.

In what concerns the installation of an erosion control blanket on a slope area, things are not even that hard. First of all, what you have to do is to prepare the soil in order to make sure that the area you want to put the control blanket on is smooth and then, add, as required, lime and fertilizer. Secondly, you have to staple your erosion control blanket on a surface of 6×6-inch trench Backfill, in order to make sure that the water will flow evenly on the entire surface of the blanket. Otherwise, things can get a little messy.

Thirdly, you have to roll your erosion control blanket down the slope and then overlap parallel blankets with the adjacent edges of the blanket. Finally, if you see that more than one blanket is needed to cover all the area you want, you have to overlap consecutive roll ends and then staple them up.
